After you describe your problem below, click “Add to Cart” and fill in all your information as if placing an order. This will send us your name and address info and you can ship us your package with the receipt that you get inside the package in a zip lock bag.

Be sure you wrap your unit in several sealed plastic bags so no oil leakage will occur in shipping. Pack your unit TIGHTLY in the shipping box so it WILL NOT SHIFT IN TRANSIT. We hate to see shafts sticking out of the box upon arrival because someone thought a 10 pound block of aluminum and steel would not break through a cheap cardboard box with no packing material.

Hydraulic Steering Service and Repair

 

There are a few Hynautic models still being manufactured. If you have a Hynautic steering system on your vessel that is not functioning properly, we can probably service and reseal it for you.( We do service and rebuild all brands of hydraulic steering units and we recommend that if you currently have a unit that you rebuild, rather than purchase new to save a considerable amount of money.)

We do not recommend that you try to replace the seals yourself. It IS NOT a do-it-yourself job.

Now that you have it apart, what do you do….even if you get it back together, how do you know you didn’t lose any parts, how do you set the timing?

There are no manuals or instructions available.

We rebuild all hydraulic steering units, usually within a week turn-around.

If you need to know the model of your steering helm, on many brands it is stamped on the back of the unit near where the hoses connect. There are many manufacturers of hydraulic steering and we service them all; Hynautic, Teleflex, SeaStar, Morse, Char-Lynn, and others.

Servicing hydraulic steering units is NOT a do-it-yourself project.

We will gladly look at your unit and give you a price quote. There is a $35.00 minimum tear-down and inspection fee for this service. This will be credited to your repair charges if we rebuild/reseal your unit. (If you send us a box of loose parts because you already took it apart, there will be a surcharge to rebuild the unit before we can determine the rebuild cost. That surcharge will be credited to the cost of the rebuild if you decide to have us do it.)

(EX. leaking from the shaft OR will only turn one way) ALSO, LET US KNOW IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS WORKED ON IT RECENTLY. PLEASE GIVE US AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU CAN.

The  CMC Manual Jack Plates from Boaters Catalog has comparable  design and construction features as the hydraulic Proudly Made in the USAlift without the convenience of automated adjustment.

If you  desire engine performance enhancement, but don’t have the  budget for our hydraulic unit  then the  ML-65 may be exactly what you are looking for.  Our manual  units provide similar benefits to the hydraulic units. However, since you cannot raise or lower the  engine as you are moving you will not receive the same  performance enhancements associated with a hydraulic unit.

The 4 and 5-1/2 inch set back plates are rated for V-6 and smaller motors. They are NOT designed for V-8 or racing applications.

The CMC HD Hydraulic Jack Plate PL-65HD Power-Lift from Boaters Catalog is designed for 400 HP outboard motors. The PL-65HD is made of 6061 T6 aluminum alloy extrusions and fastened with stainless steel fasteners for maximum strength and durability.  The structure incorporates a patented roller design providing less friction, longer wear, less maintenance and virtually eliminates any chance of binding.

The self-contained and water proof electric hydraulic power unit and cylinder is embodied into one actuator inside the structure of the Power-Lift and includes its own fluid reservoir.  Providing a lifting capacity of 7853 lbs of thrust, it has no problem lifting a 400 HP motor at full speed.

The CMC HD Hydraulic Jack Plate is made of 100% non-ferrous material which makes it more impervious to salt and fresh water.  This design eliminates the need to install a hydraulic tank, motor, pump and hoses inside the boat saving the boat room where needed.  It comes full of fluid, tested and ready for operation.
